A Whimsical Berry-Inspired Wedding at Walden Hall, Virginia

The Proposal

Allie and Andrew first met during their freshman year of college when Allie's roommate introduced them in the cafeteria. They say that when they first shook hands, they literally felt sparks fly! They quickly became best friends that year and fell in love, but they didn't even kiss for the first time until a year later when Andrew transferred to another school. Allie visited him at his new school and they finally shared their first kiss on a fire escape under the stars! When Andrew proposed to Allie, she thought they were going to a going away party at a cabin for a friend who was moving away to Chicago, but it turned out to be a surprise proposal complete with candlelight and the surprise of a lifetime. On the drive to the cabin, Andrew made a very special playlist with all of Allie's favorite film scores, each more specific and romantic than the last. When they finally pulled up, there was a trail of glowing lanterns leading up to a table with peonies and a letter. While the couple keeps the contents of the letter an intimate secret just between the two of them, Allie says that she was crying, and when she turned around, Andrew was kneeling and held out a perfect diamond ring!

A Walden Hall Wedding

Allie and Andrew held their fall ceremony outside by the pond at Walden Hall, a luxury resort in Virginia. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience during their emotional vows, and friends even stood up holding the signs from the movie "Love Actually" at the end of their ceremony (which was a beautiful surprise to Allie!) After the ceremony, they moved inside the ballroom to party the night away. Their DJ kept the dance floor going all night, and Allie and her father performed a choreographed dance as a surprise to everyone! It was such a funny and sweet moment when they starting busting a move together! The couple describes their wedding as whimsical, romantic, and glam. Their color palette was plum with mixed metals (gold, silver, and rose gold) with accents of berry, forest green, and orange. They say that their favorite memories of wedding planning were tasting desserts and food, and picking out their favorite songs for their ceremony and reception playlists while on a road trip to Cedar Point. They had a lantern send-off reminiscent of the lantern scene in the Disney movie Tangled. There were so many special and personal touches to this wedding! I'm so thrilled that I was able to capture their special day!
